Louisville, Ky. – Bears volleyball dropped to 0-6 Tuesday afternoon, falling 3-1 to Boyce College on the road.
Erin Ende led the Bears attacking, striking for five kills and a season high five blocks in the effort.
Daniela Hernandez matched Ende with five kills for her new season high.
Genesis Santiago Melendez and
Cheyenne Martinez both fired three aces while Martinez also led with 25 assists.
The Bears managed their first set win of the season in the second set against the Bulldogs, claiming the 25-22 victory. Martinez gave the Bears an advantage early on with two aces in the first three serves before
Marianne Negron Cordero would strike for a kill to return the lead to the Bears at 4-3.
Boyce took a lead at 9-8 as the Bears battled from behind until a 4-0 run by the Bears made it 20-19. The Bulldogs took a timeout and the Bears continued to apply pressure, with Cordero recording a kill and a block, assisted by Hernandez. Three straight attack errors put the Bears ahead 23-22 before a kill from
Oksana Vucetic presented a set point opportunity. A ball handling error by Boyce would ultimately land the Bears the win.
