Pikeville, KY – The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) is excited to announce the hiring of
Wyatt Oxley, the new Assistant Director of Sports Communication.
Wyatt comes to Pikeville following his recent graduation from the University of Kentucky. He brings an abundance of knowledge surrounding sports scores, statistics, facts and everything in between. He often jokes that his ability to recall sports knowledge is a "blessing and a curse."
Wyatt also brings experience in sports writing, marketing and social media. During the summer of 2021, Wyatt interned with the Dubois County Bombers Baseball Club, a wood-bat summer league baseball team in southern Indiana. As an intern, Wyatt ran the Bombers' social media accounts, assisted with marketing, authored post game articles and assisted with game day operations.
Wyatt, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, graduated St. Xavier High School in Louisville in 2017. He then attended the University of Kentucky in 2021, where he studied sports communication and journalism.
Wyatt will be working alongside
Alek Morgan, the Director of Athletic Communications, in the UPIKE sports information office.
"I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity," Wyatt said, "They have a great team and a great foundation here at UPIKE and I am excited to be a part of it."
