Crestview Hills, Ky. – The UPIKE Bears took the court for their second match in as many days at Thomas More and were defeated by the Saints, 3-0.
The Bears fell behind early in the first set and were defeated 25-13. The Bears' best play of the afternoon came in the second set where they went on a few runs early and found themselves up 10-7. Later in the set, the Saints went on a 5-0 run to go up 20-15. The Bears were unable to come back and lost the set 25-18. The Saints took the third set 25-13 and won the match 3-0.
Marianne Negron Cordero led the Bears with five kills on the day.
Cheyenne Martinez once again led the Bears in assists with 14. The Bears were led in blocks by
Oksana Vucetic with three.
Today's loss to the Saints snaps the Bears' two-game win streak. The loss also drops UPIKE's Mid-South Conference record to 0-3 on the year. The Bears will hit the court again on Thursday evening for a bout with Mid-South foe Shawnee State at UPIKE Gym.
