Henderson, Tenn. – The University of Pikeville Bears capped off two-game road trip to Tennessee with a 0-0 tie with the Freed-Hardeman Lions Saturday afternoon.
The first 45 minutes were back and forth but neither team found the back of the net. Freshman
Thivesh Naiker recorded the Bears only first-half shot on goal in the 41'. On the other end of the field, Bears goaltender
Adam Di Millo turned away all three of Freed-Hardeman's first half shots on goal. Shots after the first half were 4-3 in favor of Freed-Hardeman.
In the 49', UPIKE senior
Jack Burleson had a header opportunity but was just high of the crossbar. Two minutes later,
Richard Wohl's shot went wide right. The Lions roared back later on in the 62' with a great opportunity but
Adam Di Millo was up to the challenge on the Lions' header opportunity. Shortly after,
Paul Kueltz had a great look on net but the Lions made a defensive save to keep the score knotted at 0-0. Similar to the first 45, neither team would find the back of the net and game ended with a 0-0 tie.
Sophomore
Adam Di Millo and the Bears defense was much better today. Di Millo stopped all six Freed-Hardeman shots he faced to record his second shutout of the season.
Following today's draw with the Lions, the Bears record now sits at 4-4-1 on the season. The Bears will take to the pitch again Tuesday evening at Bob Amos against Shawnee State.
