Four Bears Set Personal Records At Midway

Versailles, Ky. - The UPIKE men's and women's swim teams had another strong showing today, with everyone setting new personal bests against Midway and Shawnee State. 

On the men's side, all three Bears who competed set new personal bests. Bryce Barton set a personal record in the 100 freestyle with a 1:00.03. Barton also swam in the 50 free and 200 backstroke. Evan Vanlierop swam in the 200 backstroke and set a personal record with a 1:08.06 in the 100 freestyle. In the 200 breaststroke, Isaiah Juneau's 2:47.12 was a new best for him. Juneau also competed in the 50 free and 100 free. 

On the women's side, Madelyn Smith continues to improve with each outing. The freshman from Bardstown, Ky. swam a 31.43 in the 50 free and a 1.08.82 in the 100 free, both personal bests. Smith also swam a 7:10.44 in the 500 freestyle. 

Coach Bernie Haney's squad had another successful outing today. The swim Bears will look to keep up the momentum next weekend when they take on Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky.
