Lebanon, Tenn. - Coach Tigh Compton's UPIKE Bears won their second consecutive game with a 76-73 win at Cumberland (Tenn.) Thursday night. 
Keian Worrix opened the scoring with a three pointer just 33 seconds in. Worrix then followed it up with another made three to go up 6-2. The first half was neck-and-neck. Neither team led by more than four points until Korbin Spencer hit a three to put UPIKE up five late in the half. Cumberland made a layup late in the half and UPIKE went to the locker room up 33-30. The Bears shot 43% from the field in the first 20, led by Korbin Spencer with 14 points. Spencer also grabbed four rebounds, one shy of Devin Collins who led UPIKE with five.
UPIKE held the lead between two and five points for the first five minutes of the second half then pulled away. Leading 45-40, the Bears went on a 12-2 run over the next three minutes. Five different Bears scored during that run. Despite trailing 57-42, the Phoenix mounted a furious comeback. Cumberland went on an 18-6 run over the next six minutes to cut the UPIKE lead down to just three. Devin Collins connected from three to put the Bears back up by six but CU still hung around. The Phoenix got within two with three minutes left but Devin Collins hit from downtown again to put UPIKE up five with just over two minutes left. Shortly after, Jacob Brown made a layup and Korbin Spencer hit a pair of free throws to ice it. UPIKE took this one 76-73. Devin Collins led UPIKE in the scoring with 12 second half points, all from beyond the arc. Collins went 4-4 from three point range. As a team, the Bears shot 54% from beyond the arc in the final 20. 
Korbin Spencer led UPIKE in scoring for the third consecutive game, this time with 22 points. Spencer also led UPIKE with two steals. Devin Collins went 4-6 from beyond the arc and finished with 14 points. Collins also led UPIKE with nine rebounds. As a team, the Bears shot 47% from the field and 41% from beyond the arc. 
With tonight's win over the Phoenix, UPIKE's record improves to 13-9 (9-7 MSC). Next up for Coach Tigh Compton's squad are the UT-Southern Firehawks in Pulaski, Tenn.
