WALESKA, Ga. – The University of Pikeville volleyball team fell in an AAC battle on Saturday, losing to Reinhardt University 3-0.
 
Reinhardt improved to 21-6 on the season and 14-5 in the league with the win, which came by scores of 25-10, 25-14, 25-18.
 
The Bears struggled to get the offense going, finishing with only 26 kills in the contest. Junior 
Yaricel Rodriguez led the team with nine, while freshman 
Lanie Hawley followed with seven.
 
Senior 
Cheyenne Martinez had 22 assists to go with three kills.
 
On the defensive side, senior 
Kiara Warrens led the team with 11 digs, followed closely by junior 
Kaitlyn Jager with nine. Freshman 
Lillian Carpenter and Martinez had eight each.
 
Two Bears finished with two block assists each: Hawley, junior 
Marianne Negron and sophomore 
Alex VanDyke.
 
Reinhardt was led on offense by Katherine Perrin, who had 12 kills. Ashlynn Barnes had 29 assists for the Eagles, while she and Ramsey Chambers had three service aces apiece.
 
Savanna Horton had a solo block and three assists on the defensive side, while Faith Breitbarth had three block assists.
 
Sarah Sweet was the dig leader with 18, while Barnes finished with 14.
 
UPike (18-10, 10-10) will step out of the league for the final time on Monday afternoon when they face Warren Wilson (N.C.) College in a doubleheader. The first match begins at 3 p.m.
 
The Bears will be back home for the regular-season finale on Tuesday evening when they meet Bryan (Tenn.) College. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
