ATHENS, Tenn. – Junior guard Amauri Young sank two free throws with 4.2 seconds left to give Tennessee Wesleyan University a 72-70 win over the University of Pikeville on Saturday afternoon.

Young, who finished with 17 points, made his first two free throw attempts of the game.

The loss dropped the Bears to 6-3 on the season and 5-2 in the AAC, while the Bulldogs moved to 3-5 overall, 3-4 in the conference.

UPike, which led 38-37 at halftime, were hurt at the free throw line in the second half. After hitting 70.59 percent in the first half, the Bears were only 3-of-7 (42.9 percent) in the final 20 minutes.

Playing without all-conference player
Korbin Spencer for the second straight game, the Bears also only made 5-of-21 (23.8 percent) on three-point shots.

Issac Stanback led five Bears in double figures with 18 points while pulling down eight rebounds. Senior
Kyonte Thomas followed with 13 to go with five rebounds. Sophomore
Bradley Bunch had 12 points and six rebounds.

Jeremy Dillon had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Junior Ty Hurst led the Bulldogs with 18 points and six rebounds. Junior Jay Reed finished with 12 points and six rebounds of his own.

UPike will be back in action on Wednesday evening, playing host to St. Andrews (N.C.) University. The game, to be played at Appalachian Wireless Arena, is slated for a 7:30 p.m. opening tip.
