Indianapolis, Ind. - The UPIKE men's and women's bowling squads competed in the 54th Annual Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic this past weekend. The men's finished ninth while the women's team finished twelfth.
Men's Bowling:
UPIKE had a top-10 finish in a field of 78 other squads. In team play, the Bears totaled 6,195. In baker's play, UPIKE knocked down 2,912 pins for a grand total of 9,107 pins over nine total games. Bryce Oliver led the Bears with 1,332 total pins over six games, with an average of 222 pins per game. Oliver finished tenth in a field of 539 bowlers. Eli Mayberry, fresh off receiving MSC Freshman of the Year, averaged 213 pins over six games played.
Women's Bowling:
UPIKE knocked down 5,831 pins over six team games and 2,735 pins over 15 baker games. The Bears knocked down a total of 8,566 pins, good for a twelfth place finish in a field of 65 teams. Emily Tull led UPIKE, finishing third out of 408 bowlers. Tull bowled six games, totaling 1,354 pins for an average of 225.66 pins per game.
Next up for both the men's and women's bowling teams are the USBC ITC Sectionals on March 10th.
