PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville men's basketball team scored the first seven points of the game and never looked back in a 79-52 win over Lindsey Wilson College on Thursday night.
Pikeville (15-10, 11-8 in the Mid-South Conference) picked up its fourth win in five games, all against league competition.
The Bears led 15-11 with 12:32 to play in the first half when they went on a 19-5 run to pull away. Five different Bears scored in the 6:16 stretch, including Devin Collins, who hit back-to-back threes.
A dunk by graduate student Jacob Brown with 6:16 left pushed the lead to 34-16. The edge was 47-25 at the break.
At the half, Pikeville had made 18-of-31 from the floor and 8-of-17 from beyond the arc to build its commanding lead.
Lindsey Wilson, which slipped to 8-16 overall and 4-15 in the MSC, shot only 35.7 percent in the first half and made 3-of-10 from the outside.
Senior guard Teddy Parham Jr. led all scorers with 19 points. Sophomore Mark Vance Jr. joined Collins with 13 in the win. Vance was 6-of-8 from the floor while Collins made a game-high three three-point shots.
The Blue Raiders put one player in double figures, as junior Jackson Harlan came off the bench to fire in 13. No other visitor scored more than six points.
The Bears will return to the court at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon when they visit Campbellsville University, while Lindsey Wilson will return home to entertain Shawnee State University.
