Bowling Finishes Fourth At ISBC Sectional

Dayton, Ohio - The UPIKE men's and women's bowling squads qualified for nationals after finishing fourth at the USBC Sectionals last weekend.

Men's Team:

For an individual to qualify for a Singles National Championship, a bowler must finish in the top five overall in the field. UPIKE graduate student Matteo Cittadino did just that, finishing fourth in a field of 177 bowlers. Cittadino knocked down 1,289 pins over the course of six games, averaging 214.8 pins per game.

For a team to qualify for nationals, they must finish in the top four of their sectional. The Bears punched their ticket to nationals after finishing fourth out in a field of 20 total teams. After 64 total games, the Bears totaled 13,282 pins and averaged 207.5 pins per game.

Women's Team:

Just like the men's side, the UPIKE women's bowling squad are headed for nationals after they finished fourth out of twenty teams as well. After 64 total games, Coach Bobby Brown's team knocked down 12,129 pins, almost 400 more than the team that finished in fifth place. The Bears averaged 189.5 pins per game as well.
