Pikeville, Ky. - UPIKE won this year's edition of the Battle of the Bears with a 6-1 victory over Shawnee State Saturday afternoon.

Doubles: 

UPIKE continued their dominance in doubles play with Martin Lorenzo and Alfonso Robinson notching wins over their SSU counterparts. Juan Diego Alzate and Mirko Dedich secured the doubles team point for the UPIKE Bears with a win. 

Singles: 

Juan Diego Alzate fell 5-7 in the first set, but came back in the last two sets 6-1 and 6-2. Alfonso Robinson followed up Alzate's win with a 6-1 6-3 win to put UPIKE up 3-0 in team points. The match was secured after a 6-2, 6-2 win by Paulo Castillo. Martin Lorenzo and Luis Gayoso also won their matches and UPIKE took this one 6-1.

Today's victory over the SSU Bears is UPIKE's fourth consecutive win. The Bears have won four in a row and are now 7-3 (4-1 MSC). Next up for Coach Brennan Alderman's Bears are the Midway Eagles Tuesday afternoon in Versailles, Ky.
