Errors Prove Costly In Loss To Milligan

Elizabethton, Tenn. - The Bears hit the road Wednesday and were defeated 6-2 by Milligan, their second loss in as many days.

Noah Helton, UPIKE's RBI leader, got the Bears on the board first on a fielder's choice, scoring Ryan Sartin. The Buffaloes knotted the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the first after an error on a pick off attempt. In the third, Milligan took a 2-1 lead with an RBI single.

Trailing by one, UPIKE slugger Noah Helton stepped up to the plate and hit his eighth home run of the season. Helton needs just three more home runs to tie the single-season record, which currently sits at 11.

UPIKE was plagued by errors, committing four in the game. In the bottom of the sixth, UPIKE had two blunders that resulted in two runs for Milligan. The Buffaloes scored four in the inning and took this one 6-2.

The Bears' record sank to 7-12 (1-5 MSC) following the loss. Next up for UPIKE is a weekend series with the Bethel Wildcats.
