LEBANON, Tenn. -- The University of Pikeville women's golf team wrapped up regular-season play with a sixth-place finish in the 11-team Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament.
The teams play three rounds in the event with total score deciding the championship. UPIKE shot a three-round total of 1,013, which was 137 over par.
The tournament was held at the 5,818-yard Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain.
The winner was the University of the Cumberlands, which finished 54 over to easily outdistance Cumberland (Tenn.) University. The Phoenix was second, 78 shots over par.
The Bears were led by freshman Carly Crooks who posted a three-day score of 241 (77-83-81). Her score was good for an 11th-place tie in the field.
Joining her in the Top 24 was freshman Lauren Holmes, who shot 252 to finish tied for 24th. Her scores by round were 85-86-81.
Elsewhere, sophomore Sophie Beverly tied for 31st with a score of 262, and junior Gabby Blankenship finished tied for 25th at 265.
Freshman Renee Crooks played only the third round and carded a 79.
Two Bears played as individuals. Junior Emily Brown finished 45th at 274 and freshman Taylor Messer shot a 292 to finish 52nd.
Up next for the Bears will be the Mid-South Conference Championship on May 8-9 at the Bowling Green Country Club.
