Football hosting women's coaching clinic

The University of Pikeville football staff is looking forward to its second Women's Football Clinic.

The event will take place on Tuesday, July 25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on the seventh floor of the Health Professionals (HPE) Building on the campus of UPike.

"This was an extremely fun night last year and we've been looking forward to it all summer," said Coach Corey Fipps, who hosts the event with Dr. Kay Webb. Dr. Webb is the wife of president Dr. Burton Webb and is the director of the new Center for Career, Vocation and Leadership.

"We had a blast last year going over the basics of the sport, trying to make it a meaningful night for the ladies in that they learn something about football in a fun, enthusiastic environment. And, of course, we do it as a fund-raiser for charity, which make it even more special."

The cost of admission is $20 per lady, with all funds going to support Eastern Kentucky Strong, a local charity dedicated to female leadership.

The HPE Building is located at 810 Hambley Boulevard in downtown Pikeville.

UPike will begin the 2023 season on August 26 with a game at Campbellsville University. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

The home opener is slated for Sept. 2, when the Bears host the University of the Cumberlands at 6 p.m. at the W.C. Hambley Athletics Conference.
