Pikeville, Ky. - Men's soccer capped off a sweep of a home-and-home series with Alice Lloyd with a 5-1 win over the Eagles Tuesday afternoon at Bob Amos.
UPIKE got on the board early with Anthony Aguilar netting his first of two goals in the 3'. Ben Beltmermann added another goal in the 26' to put UPIKE up 2-0. Right before the half, Anthony Aguilar scored a goal to put UPIKE up 3-0. Samuel Cristancho was credited with the assist on Aguilar's second goal of the afternoon.
The second 45 did not see much action until the latter part of the half. In the 73', Daron Baumann made it 4-0 after a brilliant feed from Carson Glass. The Eagles got one back in the 78', however, when Dylan Moore scored on a penalty kick. The match was capped off by another goal by Daron Baumann, his fourth of the season, and the Bears took this one 5-1.
UPIKE is now 3-3-1 (0-1-1) following today's win over Alice Lloyd. Coach Shaun Schetka was pleased with his team's performance saying, "It was good to close out our non-conference schedule with a result like this as we move into conference play." Coach Schetka's squad will hit the pitch again Saturday evening for a match with Montreat College.
