EATON, Ohio – The University of Pikeville men's soccer team took a 1-0 lead to intermission but saw it slip away in a 2-1 loss to Midway University on Saturday.

The game was the first for the Bears in the IU East Labor Day Soccer Weekend.

The Bears took a 1-0 lead late in the first half when senior defender
Jon Barragan scored off a pass from freshman defender
Charlie Williams with 1:18 left in the period.

However, it was one of only two shots on goal for the Bears in the game, with both coming in the first half.

The Eagles scored in the 61
st minute freshman forward Leo Elder found junior defender Jacob Pollack for the tying goal. Elder then found the back of the net himself in the 87
th minute for the game-winner.

Gabriel Torres turned away three of Midway's five shots on goal. For Midway, senior keeper Tyler Glass had an easy day, facing only two shots on goal and recording one save.

The Bears are off until noon on Monday when they face homestanding IUEast. UPike, 0-2 on the young season, will be looking for its first win.

Midway improved to 1-1 on the season.
