BEAVERCREEK, Ohio – The women's bowling program began its season this weekend by winning both tournaments in its own Orange & Black Classic, played at Beaver-Vu Bowl.

On Saturday, the Bears took the title in the Orange tournament, with a score of 5,056. The closest competitor in the six-team tournament was Walsh University, which finished at 4,482.

In the junior varsity division, UPike JV1 took the title with a score of 4,937, while JV2 was second at 4,778.

On Sunday, the field expanded to 10 varsity teams for the Black tournament, but the Bears again came out on top with a score of 4,853. They outdistanced Wright State University, which was second with a score of 4,061.

Walsh University was third at 3,984, while Union Commonwealth University was fourth with a score of 3,745.

In the JV division, JV1 again was the winner, scoring 4,460, while JV2 finished second at 4,198.

The dominance continued in the individual standings, where the Bears claimed four of the five all-tournament slots. Junior
Brianna Rogers was the winner, finishing five games with a total of 1,071 and an average of 214.2. Graduate student
Kristina Catoe was second, averaging 207.6.

Senior
Mikayla Blair of nearby Springfield, Ohio, finished third with an average of 189.4, while senior
Madison Stanton was fourth at 188.6.

Union's Laila Lambert joined them on the all-tournament team after finishing fifth with an average of 186.2.

UPike had four of the second five finishers as well. Freshman
Allison Taylor was sixth, averaging 183.2; graduate student
Kadie Dicken was seventh at 182; senior
Erica Warne came in ninth with an average of 180.8; and senior
Alexis Girard came in 10
th, averaging 173.8.

The Bears will waste no time in getting back to action, traveling to Smyrna, Tenn., to compete in two tournaments hosted by the Mid-South Conference next weekend.

On Saturday, they'll enter the Greater Nashville Open, while on Sunday, they compete in the Brandon Burris Memorial.
