SMYRNA, Tenn. – The University of Pikeville women's bowling team continued playing its hot hand to open the season, picking up weekend wins in the Greater Nashville Open and Brandon Burns Memorial.

On Saturday, the Bears won the GNO over second-place Cumberland (Tenn.) University in the 15-team field. They followed that with a win on Sunday over second-place Milligan (Tenn.) University in another field of 15.

UPike finished at 5,460 on Saturday to outdistance Cumberland, which rolled at 5,081. In the junior varsity division, Milligan came out on top with a score of 4,996, while UPike JV1 was second at 4,634 and JV2 was third with 4,321.

Graduate student
Kristina Catoe was the singles winner, rolling a four-game total of 836 for an average of 209. Junior
Brianna Rogers was 20 pins behind for second place, averaging 204. Graduate Student
Vanessa Fuzie also recorded a Top 5 finish, averaging 199.3.

Freshman
Allison Taylor finished eighth, averaging 193.3. Freshman
Kaytlen Peck was 13
th at 186.8, while graduate student
Kelsey Cummings finished 19
th with an average of 180.8.

On Sunday, the Bears won the Brandon Burns Memorial thanks to a total of 5,481, outdistancing Milligan, which was second with a total of 5,123. UPike JV2 won that division with a total of 4,804, while Millgan followed at 4,651 and UPike JV1 was third at 4,593.

Rogers took home the singles title with a four-game score of 844 to average 211. Junior
Victoria Hines was third in the field of 113, averaging 203. Graduate student
Kelsey Cummings recorded a Top 10 finish thanks to an average of 194.5 to finish ninth.

Haley Grabowski was 13
th, averaging 188.3, while senior
Erica Warne was right behind her at 188. Senior
Mikayla Blair finished 21
st, averaging 183.8, while graduate student
Kadie Dicken was 22
nd, averaging 182.5.

The Bears will head south for the first Teir One tournament of the year, competing in the Bowlero Southern Classic in Marietta, Ga. The tournament runs Nov. 2-3.
