LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville women's bowling team returned to the scene of last year's Intercollegiate Team Championships last weekend and carded a first- and second-place finish in the NAIA Invitational.

The Bears finished second on Friday in the 17-team field and then came in first on Saturday in that tournament.

On Saturday, SCAD-Savannah came out on top with a score of 5,067. The Bears were second at 4,849, followed by William Penn (4,797), Spring Arbor (4,727) and Midway (4,659) in the top five.

In Sunday's tournament, UPike was the winner with a count of 5,201, with SCAD-Savannah following at 5,013. The remainder of the top five saw William Penn report a 4,994, Sain Xavier finished at 4,834 while Spring Arbor came in with a score of 4,731.

In Saturday's individual tournament, UPike's
Brianna Rogers finished second in the field of 127 bowlers with a five-game average of 215.6. She was 24 pins off the pace set by Lara Kurt of SCAD-Savannah, who averaged 220.4 to win it.

Other Bears finishing strong included senior
Erica Warne, who was fifth in the field with an average of 209.8. Senior
Mikayla Blair joined them in the Top 10. Her average of 201.8 placed her seventh in the field.

Victoria Hines returned to her home house to average 189 and finish 15
th. Graduate student
Kadie Dicken averaged 185.6 for a top 20 finish.

Kristina Catoe averaged 184.2, while graduate student
Faythe Reid averaged 178.9. Sophomore
Madison Strouse posted an average of 177.

The Bears will finish up the fall semester in the classroom before returning to action. That will happen in Allentown, Penn., when they compete in the Lehigh Valley Invitational Dec. 18-19, followed by the Roto Grip Classic Dec. 21-22.
