PIKEVILLE, Ky. - University of Pikeville men's tennis notched another win with a 7-0 victory over Columbia College Sunday afternoon at Bob Amos.  

The doubles matches started with Anton Hofman and Martin Lorenzo defeating Liam Berry and Jonah Haller 6-2. Juan Diego Alzate and Alfonso Robinson gave the Bears the doubles team point after a 6-1 victory over Columbia's Owen Brumfield and Tiann Jacobs. Timur Chsherbakov and Mateo Vargas finished off the 3-0 sweep in the doubles with a dominant, 6-0 victory over Michael Schiesz and Zaire Wardlaw.  

After a dominant win in the doubles, Juan Diego Alzate finished where he left off and defeated Jonah Haller 6-1, 6-2. Anton Hofman downed Tiann Jacobs 6-2, 6-2 to put the Bears in position to secure the match. Timur Chsherbakov secured the Bears' seventh victory of the season with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Liam Berry. UPIKE finished off the 7-0 sweep with victories by Martin Lorenzo, Mateo Vargas, and Alfonso Robinson.  

UPIKE's record climbs to 7-2 (4-1 AAC) following Sunday's win over Columbia College. Next up for the Bears is a trip to Barbourville, Ky., for an AAC match against Union College next Saturday afternoon. Saturday's match will be the first match between UPIKE and Union since 2016, where the Bears defeated the Bulldogs 5-4.
