PIKEVILLE, Ky. – A penalty-kick goal in the middle of the second half was all Lawrence Tech (Mich.) University needed in a 2-1 win over the University of Pikeville Friday night at Bob Amos Park.
 
Lawrence Tech moved to 2-1 on the season after the win, while UPike slipped to 1-2.
 
The teams played a scoreless but exciting first half. It was evenly played with both teams battling with the Bears recording the lone shot on goal, but when it ended, neither team had scored.
 
The Bears finally dented the scoreboard three minutes into the second half when freshman 
Jay Jackson scored on a header. It came on a corner kick off the foot of freshman Bruno Arenal.
 
The Blue Devils needed only four minutes to even the count when Reece Still, a graduate student, scored. The pass came from junior Guillermo Garcia.
 
It remained even until the 66
th minute when the Blue Devils were awarded a penalty kick. It resulted in a goal by senior Jacob Schleicher which proved to be the winning score.
 
UPike had the edge in shots on goal, 5-4. Arenal, 
Olivier Wentink, 
Bruno Back and 
Matias Salviat had shots on goal for the Bears.
 
In addition to the scores, Felix Galvez and Garcia had shots on goal for the Blue Devils.
 
UPike will be back in action on Monday at 11 a.m. when they host IU East in a Labor Day matinee.
