MILLIGAN, Tenn. – A fourth-quarter rally for the University of Pikeville came up just short in an 82-78 loss to Milligan (Tenn.) University on Wednesday night.

Milligan led 65-53 when the final period started, and a basket by sophomore
Rachel Bush with four seconds left got the Bears within a single bucket at 80-78.

But Jaycie Jenkins sank two free throws with two seconds left to seal the game.

The Buffs led 77-71 with a minute left, but a three-pointer by freshman
Jaaliyah Warren cut it in half. Tessa Gibson scored on a layup for Milligan with 39 seconds left to get the lead back to 79-74, but Bush answered with one of her own to pull the Bears back within three with 12 seconds remaining.

Semaj Clark split a pair from the line for Milligan with 10 seconds left, before Bush scored again to get the Bears back within two.

Bush had 11 points and seven rebounds for the Bears.

UPike (9-6, 8-3 in the AAC) was led by junior guard
Allie Stone, who fired in 24 points. Junior
Jaidy Mejia-Andrade followed with 14 points and seven rebounds to go with three blocked shots.

Clark had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead Milligan in both categories. Jenkins had 16 points, while Lauren Longmire scored 13 to go with five rebounds and five assists.

UPike will return home on Saturday, hosting Tennessee Wesleyan University. The game, scheduled for the UPike Gym, will tip off at 2 p.m.
