PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Tennessee Wesleyan University outscored the University of Pikeville 8-3 in overtime and picked up a 59-54 win on Saturday afternoon at the UPike Gym.

UPike led 42-39 as the fourth quarter started, but shot 4 for 22 from the field in the final 15 minutes of play. In the overtime, the Bears missed all seven of their shots from the field.

Shooting was an issue the entire game for both sides. UPike shot only 26.5 percent, while the Bulldogs were good on only 33.3 percent of their shots. The Bears hit for 29.6 percent from the arc, while TWU made only 16.7 percent from outside.

Junior guard
Allie Stone led all scorers with 19 points, but was the only Bear in double figures. Junior guard
India Blyth finished with eight.

The Bears controlled the glass, pulling down 56 to Tennessee Wesleyan's 42. Sophomore
Rachel Bush had 11 while junior
Jaidy Mejia-Andrade grabbed 11.

Senior guard Jacelyn Stone led the Bulldogs with 18 points. Senior Anna Crowder followed with 13 while senior Jaci Powell flipped in 12. Powell and junior Courtney Farr had seven rebounds each for Wesleyan.

The Bears remain home on Wednesday night, hosting Montreat (N.C.) at the Appalachian Wireless Arena. The game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. opening tip.
