PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Junior guard
Allie Stone matched her career high with 31 points as the University of Pikeville picked up a much-needed 70-54 win over Montreat (N.C.) College on Wednesday night at the UPike Gym.

Stone, who had 10 at halftime, sparked the Bears to a second-half advantage of 40-24 after the teams went to the half tied at 30. She also scored 31 at Brenau last season.

The win raised the Bears to 10-7 on the season but more importantly, 9-4 in the AAC. They are now tied with the Cavs, who fell to 12-6 on the season.

Stone, a native of Olive Hill, is currently 14
th on the school's all-time scoring list in women's basketball.

UPike led 39-37 with 5:28 left in the third period when it began a run that would prove to be the difference. Over the next four minutes, the Bears outscored the Cavaliers 16-3.

Stone had nine in the run, while junior
India Blyth scored five and sophomore
Rachel Bush added two as the Bears didn't miss a shot, hitting all five field goal attempts, both three-pointers and all four free throws.

When it ended, UPike held a 55-40 lead as they outscored the Cavs 25-13 in the third quarter.

Stone, who added three rebounds, three assists and two steals, was joined in double figures by Blyth, who had 10 points. Bush, who finished with six points, added nine rebounds as the Bears equaled the Cavs with 43 boards each.

Montreat was led by sophomore Reymiah Sanders with 16 points. Senior Virginia Edminston and sophomore Grace Rinaldo scored 11 points each.

UPike will be back in action on Saturday at the UPike Gym, hosting Brenau (Ga.) at 2 p.m.
