The University of Pikeville volleyball team pushed its win streak to four with a 3-1 win over Columbia International (S.C.) University on Saturday morning at the UPike Gym.

The Bears are now 12-11 on the season and 9-3 in the AAC, while the Rams fell to 14-6 overall, 10-2 in the league.

Sophomore
Cassidy Rivas had 13 kills to lead three Bears in double figures. Junior
Lanie Hawley and sophomore
Olivia Chapman posted 12 each. Chapman also had five service aces, while junior
Chloie Brinton had 50 assists in the win.

Hawley had a big game on the defensive side, getting two solo blocks and three block assists. Rivas also had three block assists. Sophomore
Ashtyn Filkins led the back row with 21 digs, while freshman
Christan Howell had 20.

Brinton and Rivas had 12 each.

UPike will be back on the court on Friday evening, traveling to Cleveland, Ga., to play Truett McConnell. First serve is set for 6:30. Â

Rams 25, Bears 19: CIU had an early 7-2 run to take an 8-4 lead, getting four kills, two by Ashley Burgbacher. UPike rallied, getting three straight points as
Lanie Hawley had kills on either side of one by
Cassidy Rivas. The Rams had four straight thanks to two kills by Skyler Dewhirst and one by Mary Norwood to lead 20-12 and held on to win the opener.

Bears 25, Rams 13: After each team scored to open the set, UPike put up four straight points thanks to a kill by Rivas and a service ace by Ayende to make the score 5-1. Leading 13-10, the Bears had the key stretch of the set, scoring eight unanswered points behind the serving of Chapman and three kills from Hawley to push the lead to 21-10. An Ayende kill finished the set.

Bears 25, Rams 16: A Norwood kill tied the set at 16 before the Bears had the most critical stretch of the morning, scoring the final nine points to move head 2-1. Again it was Chapman on serve, recording three service aces, while Hawley had three kills, including the final two points for the win.

Bears 25, Rams 22: The 9-0 run to end the third set turned into a 13-point run as the Bears opened the fourth set with a four-point lead. Ayende had three kills to get the run going. The lead grew to 6-1 on a kill by Chapman. The teams traded three-point runs, with the last by the Rams pulling them within 14-12. The score was tied at 15 and 16 before the Bears scored three straight to go ahead for good. A four-point run saw kills from
Gracey Lovgren, Ayende and Rivas put the Bears to the cusp of the win at 24-19. A block by Hawley sent the home fans home happy.
