CLEVELAND, Ga. – The University of Pikeville picked up a crucial AAC win on Friday night, knocking off Truett McConnell University 3-1 on the volleyball court.
 
UPike won by scores of 25-19, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-21.
 
The win extended the win streak to five, running the Bears' record to 13-11 this season, but most importantly, 10-3 in the conference. Truett McConnell fell to 11-18 overall, 4-11 in the league.
 
UPike had three players in double figures in kills, with senior 
Gracey Lovgren and sophomore 
Cassidy Rivas piling up 14 each. Sophomore 
Olivia Chapman continued her outstanding stretch run with 10 kills as well.
 
Junior 
Chloie Brinton, the league's leader in assists this season, had 36 in the win, while sophomore 
Aspen Braaten added six and junior 
Magda Vicencio five.
 
On the defensive side of the net, the Bears were credited with 11 blocks, all of them solos. Chapman and junior 
Lanie Hawley had four apiece.
 
Sophomore 
Ashtyn Filkins led the Bears with 24 of their 92 digs in the win. Brinton had 12 to join her in double digits, while sophomore 
Lyla Reed had nine. Chapman and Lovgren finished with eight each.
 
The Bears have a busy next several hours, making the drive to Montreat (N.C.) College for a Saturday morning matchup. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
