Bass fishing takes 30th at Bassmaster College Series

LAKE OKEECHOBEE, Fla. - University of Pikeville bass fishing competed at the 2025 Strike King Bassmaster College Series at Lake Okeechobee this weekend.

The Bears had a strong performance at the tournament, coming in 30th place out of 235 boats. Coming in 30th was the duo of senior Dalton Blakley and junior Carrson Sizemore after recording a score of 24-14. Nicholas Giompalo and Seth Shuler were ten spots behind Blakley and Sizemore with a 23-9. Coming in at 45th with a 23-0 were newcomers Bryce McDonald and Ethan Elliott.

UPIKE had a good showing this weekend at Lake Okeechobee. UPIKE fell just short of qualifying for nationals as only the top 23 teams qualify. Next up for the bass fishing Bears is a trip to Lake Seminole for the MLF tournament on February 14th.
