Bass fishing takes 36th place at Bassmasters

DAYTON, Tenn. – The University of Pikeville bass fishing team came in 36th place at the 2025 Strike King Bassmaster College Series a Chickamauga Lake presented by Bass Pro Shops.
There were 217 total boats competing in the tournament. Bryce McDonald and teammate Ethan Elliott had the Bears' highest finish after coming in 36th place with a score of 30-4. Tanner Smith and Nicholas Giompalo recorded a 21-4 and came in 98th place.
Coming in at 115 with a score of 18-3 was Ryan Thomas and Nate Harper. Finishing two spots below Harper and Thomas were Matthew Strickland and Eli Ward with a 17-10.
Carrson Sizemore and Dalton Blakley came in 127th after a 16-12. Rounding out the top 160 finishes for the Bears were sophomore Nick Schaefer and freshman Cameron Gates with a 11-4 and a 157th place finish.
Next up for Coach Gene Nornhold's bass fishing Bears are the Bassmaster Trails Nationals starting July 6th at Cherokee Lake in Jefferson City, Tennessee.
