PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Junior guard
Bradley Bunch scored 18 points and pulled down 20 rebounds to lead the University of Pikeville to a 78-55 win over the Lions of Bryan College on Saturday.

The win put the Bears in a first-place tie in the AAC standings with the Lions and gave them a sweep in the season series. Both teams are now 12-3 in the league.

For Bunch, a product of Big Stone Gap, Va., it was the first 20-rebound game for UPike since Chris Cantino pulled down 21 on January 27, 2014 in a win over Shawnee State University.

The school record for rebounds in a game belongs to late Bears Hall of Famer Danny Moses, who had 26 in a game in the 1974-75 season.

The win was also a milestone in the career of Coach
Tigh Compton. It was the 91
st win in his career, passing Wayne Martin for fourth place on the all-time scoring list.

UPike (19-4) shot 45.8 percent from the field and 36 percent from the arc. The Bears were also solid from the stripe, where they went 15 of 21, for 71.4 percent.

Just as importantly was the work the Bears did on the defensive end of the court. Bryan finished the game at 31.6 percent from the field, including 4 for 23 (17.4 percent) on three-point shots.

UPike also forced 15 Lions turnovers in the win.

Bunch was joined in double digits in the scoring column by junior
LA Walker, who had 17 points and five rebounds in the win.

Junior guard
Keian Worrix finished with 16 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals. Juniors
Keynan Cutlip and
Tyler Best had 10 points each. Best had eight rebounds while Cutlip grabbed five.

UPike dominated the glass, winning that battle 48-30.

Junior guard Jalen Gales paced the Lions with 21 points and eight rebounds, while junior Josh Baugher had 10 rebounds, six rebounds, four assists and four steals.

The Bears will be back in action on Wednesday night, traveling to Bluefield (Va.) University. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
