PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Five players reached double figures and six hit three-point shots as the University of Pikeville kept the heat on the AAC leaders with an 89-53 win over Union Commonwealth (Ky.) University on Wednesday night.

UPike (15-7 overall, 14-4 in the league) took a 52-29 lead to the half thanks to shooting 10 of 19 from the three-point line in before intermission. The Bears played exceptional defense, forcing the Bulldogs into 27 turnovers; all 10 Bulldogs turned it over at least one time.

Allie Stone, who scored her 1,500
th career point on Saturday, paced the Bears with 20 points and with five rebounds. Sophomore
Rachel Bush followed with 16 and a team high six rebounds.

Alexis Moore came off the bench to score 13. Junior guard
India Blyth nailed four three-pointers to finish with 12, while freshman
Jaaliyah Warren scored 11.

Jaidy Mejia-Andrade, had four steals each, as UPike recorded 21 in the win.

Mejia-Andrade failed to score, but recorded seven blocks, four rebounds and four assists to go with the four steals.

Union had only one player in double figures as junior Madison Brady led all scorers with 24 points and was one of four Bulldogs with five rebounds apiece.

The Bulldogs outrebounded the Bears 40-31.

UPike will be on the road for the next three games, beginning Saturday when it visits Brenau (Ga.) University. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
