Bass fishing takes 55th at MLF Seminole Lake

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. - University of Pikeville bass fishing competed at the Major League Fishing Abu Garcia College Fishing Lake Seminole Tournament presented by Suzuki Marine this past weekend. 

As a team, UPIKE came in 55th place out of 210 boats. Freshmen Carson Holbrook and Silas Jones had the Bears' highest finish at 55th place at 14-14 (5). 

Coming in at 80th was Scotty Hagan at 12-05 (5). Two spots behind Hagan were freshman Matthew Strickland and junior Eli Ward with results of 12-04 (5). 

Ethan Elliott and Bryce McDonald came in at 113th and recorded 10-08 (5). Coming in at two and three spots behind Elliott and McDonald, respectively, were Aaron Mills and Tanner Smith at 10-07 (5) and Cameron Gates and Nick Schaefer at 10-06(5).

As mentioned, the Bears came in 55th place as a team. The bass fishing Bears came up just short of nationals, as only the top 31 boats go to nationals. Coach Gene Nornhold's squad will take to the water again on March 28th at Kentucky Lake.
