CLEVELAND, Ga. – The University of Pikeville women's basketball team ran its win streak to eight with a 69-53 win over Truett-McConnell University on Monday night.

The game was a makeup from the January contest that was postponed due to weather conditions. It also gave the Bears a sweep of Truett, who it beat 70-55 on December 7 at home.

The Bears continued its torrid shooting, hitting 55.1 percent in the game and 12 of 25 (48 percent) of its three-point shots. The hosts, on the other hand, shot 41.2 percent overall but only 4 of 16 from the arc.

UPike (17-7, 16-4 in the AAC) jumped out to an early lead. Trailing 2-0, the Bears scored 15 of the next 17 points to take command. Junior guard

Rachel Bush had a three and a jumper and junior
Katie Collopy scored on two layups.

The Bears did that damage in less than half the period, and led 24-14 after one.

They then had an 11-3 run to start the second frame. All the scoring came from Bush, with five, and freshman
Jaaliyah Warren, who poured in six, and they did so in only 2:49. The lead was 35-17 at that point and by the half, the lead was 42-22.

Junior guard
Allie Stone poured in 20 points while handing out six assists and grabbing three steals to lead four UPike players in double figures. Warren was 4 for 7 from outside to finish with 14.

Bush followed with another double-double, scoring 12 and pulling down 11 rebounds, while Blyth nailed three three-point shots to finish with11 points and four assists.

Alexis Brewster led Truett with 23 points and eight rebounds in the loss. Mahalah Stewart followed with 11 as it fell to 12-14, 9-11 in the league.

UPike will try to keep its winning ways alive on Wednesday when it travels to Grayson to play Kentucky Christian University. Game time is 5:30.
