Box Score PIKEVILLE, Ky. - University of Pikeville men's tennis team remained unbeaten in AAC play after winning 5-2 over Union Commonwealth University Tuesday.
Ahmed Hassairi and Haithem Rabbouche opened the doubles with a 6-4 win over Henning Ebersohn and Sebastian Stipanov. The Bulldogs leveled the doubles score at 1-1 after Luke Gedult and Victor Bourguignon won 6-4 over Mateo Vargas and Guiliano Zambrano. Timur Chsherbakov and Anton Hofmann secured the doubles team point after a 7-6 win over Daniel Caballeros and Enzo Sebastien.
Chsherbakov opened singles play with a 6-3, 0-6, 6-1 win over Gedult. Rabbouche extended the Bears' match lead to 3-0 after a 6-3, 6-1 win over Yassine Azehaf. Bourguignon got the Bulldogs back in the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Vargas and Sebastien followed with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Zambrano to make it 3-2. With the match on the line, Hassairi slammed the door on the Bulldogs' comeback bid with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Ebersohn. Hofmann capped off the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Caballeros and the Bears took the match 5-2.
UPIKE is now 5-2 (3-0 AAC) following Tuesday's victory over the Bulldogs. The Bears will travel to Athens, Tenn., for a match against Tennessee Wesleyan Saturday.
