KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - University of Pikeville men's tennis traveled to Johnson University and defeated the Royals 7-0 Saturday.  

Guiliano Zambrano and Mateo Vargas opened doubles play with a 7-5 win over Emanuel Casco and Igor Parolis. Haithem Rabbouche and Ahmed Hassairi secured the doubles team point with a 6-2 win over Miguel Sanchez Loo and Gabor Szabo. Timur Chsherbakov and Anton Hofmann capped off the doubles round with a 6-2 win over Benjamin Barrios and Levi Lubbers. 

Chsherbakov defeated Barrios 6-1, 6-3 and then Vargas won 6-1, 6-1 over Sanchez Loo to put the Bears up 3-0 in the match. Zambrano clinched the match victory for UPIKE with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Parolis. Hassairi won 6-1, 6-1 over Szabo, Hofman won 6-0, 7-6 over Felipe Amore, and Alfonso Robinson closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Lubbers. The Bears won the match 7-0.  

Men's tennis will hit the courts again Monday for a home match against the University of the Cumberlands at Bob Amos Park.
