Johnson sweeps Bears in DH

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Johnson University posted a sweep of the University of Pikeville on Saturday afternoon, winning by scores of 7-0 and 5-0.
 
The Bears are now 11-16 on the season and 4-10 in the league. They will be back in action on Monday afternoon, hosting WVU Tech at Paul Butcher Field.
 
The first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
 
Johnson is 20-5 on the season, 15-1 in conference play.
 
Royals 7, Bears 0: Johnson scored three in the first and two in the second to take control of the game.
 
UPike had three hits in the game, getting singles from catcher Dani Crum, left fielder Maria McClellan and second baseman Kaden Dunlap.
 
Brianna Johnsen (4-7) pitched all six innings for the Bears.
 
Royals 5, Bears 0: Johnson scored all five of the runs in this game in the fourth inning, getting six of its eight hits in the frame.
 
McClellan had three of Pikeville's five hits in the game, while third baseman Claira Blair posted the other two.
 
Sara Bays (3-3) pitched all six innings for the Bears, striking out two and walking none.
