CLEVELAND, Ga. – One day after a ninth-inning rally came up one run short, the University of Pikeville picked up a doubleheader sweep of Truett McConnell University on the road Saturday afternoon.

UPike improved to 22-19 overall and 15-12 in the league thanks to wins by scores of 19-13 and 13-3.

Truett McConnell fell to 12-27, 9-18.

UPike will have a busy week ahead, hosting Georgetown on Tuesday at Johnnie LeMaster Field at 3 p.m. before visiting Alice Lloyd College Wednesday at 3 p.m.

The week wraps up with a three-game series at home against Union Commonwealth University, which is scheduled to begin on Friday at 3 p.m.

UPike 19, TMU 13: UPike scored the final eight runs to win the highest scoring game of the season and the third game that has seen at least 30 runs scored on the year.

TMU scored three runs each in the first two innings to lead 6-0. UPike scored four in the third before posting seven in the fifth to lead 11-6. Truett answered with four in the bottom of the fifth to pull within one and three in the sixth to lead 13-11.

UPike tied it with a pair of runs in the seventh and used a four-run eighth to take the lead. It tacked on two insurance runs in the ninth.

Pikeville's 20-hit attack was led by second baseman
Cam Revolt, who was 5 of 5 with two doubles and a home run, driving in five and scoring five times. Right fielder
Austin Gurney pounded out four hits including a double and drove in four and scored two.

Noah Brooks was 3 for 3 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored, while catcher
Tanner Gerosa had three hits including a double and scored three times.

Garren Gledhill and first baseman
Marques Richards had two hits each to give the Bears six players with multiple hits in the game. Gledhill drove in two and scored one while Richards had an RBI.

Francis Subero had a double and scored twice, while center fielder
Riley Paulino singled, drove in two and scored a pair, while third baseman Ian Setser singled and scored.

Richter Castillo was the last of four pitchers, throwing the final four innings to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Truett McConnell used nine pitchers in the loss.

UPike 13, TMU 3: Pikeville scored in each of its first six trips to the plate to cruise to the win.

The 16-hit attack was led by catcher
Hunter Ferguson, whose four hits included a home run with five RBIs and three runs scored. Gurney had three hits, including a home run, with three RBIs.

Revolt and Paulino had two hits each. Both scored a run while Paulino drove in one. Brooks had a hit, two RBIs and scored a run, while Gledhill had a hit, an RBI and scored. Subero had a hit and scored three times, Richards had a hit and scored twice while Setzer had a hit and drove in one.

Shaye McTavish pitched his second consecutive complete game to improve to 4-5. He struck out 10 and allowed only seven hits.
