GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. - University of Pikeville bass fishing came in 45th place at the Major League Fishing Kentucky-Barkley Lake tournament presented by Columbia PFG this past weekend. The Bears' performance also rose in the MLF Abu Garcia College Fishing rankings.
Ina field of 236 boats, the team of Ethan Elliott and Bryce McDonald finished in 45th place after recording marks of 14-00 (5). Coming in at No. 76 were the duo of Carson Holbrook and Silas Jones who scored a 10-10 (5). Nick Giampalo and Tanner Smith recorded a 9-03 (4) and finished in 96th place.
Matthew Strickland and Eli Ward came in 129th after a 6-04 (4). Levi Griffith and Joseph Shamblin finished six spots behind Strickland and Ward with a 5-04 (1). Dalton Blakley and Carrson Sizemore rounded out the top 150 with a 3-15 (2).
The Bears' performance at Kentucky-Barkley Lake saw them rise in the rankings. UPIKE has 948 points in the poll and it No. 14 in the MLF Abu Garcia College Fishing rankings.
Coach Gene Nornhold's bass fishing Bears will be back in action in Buggs Island, Mecklenburg, N.C., for the Bassmasters tournament on April 30th-May 1st.
