Goal in the 88th minute pushes WVU Tech past UPike

For 87:36, WVU Tech not only hadn't scored but also didn't have a shot on goal.

All that changed when senior Christian Piewe found freshman Leny Duperray on a breakaway for the only goal of the game and a 1-0 win for the Golden Bears over homestanding University of Pikeville.

UPike (1-1) had four shots on goal. WVU Tech (1-0-1) had only three shots in the contest.

The teams battled to the half with only a single a shot on goal. It came off the foot of UPike sophomore Bruno Arenal in the 36th minute.

In the second half, UPike had shots from Arenal along with junior Yali Cohen and sophomore Oliver Fausel.

All were turned away by Tech senior Luka Felix.

UPike will be back in action on Saturday when it travels for the first time this season when it visits Carolina University in Winston-Salem, N.C. The game starts at 7 p.m.
