HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - University of Pikeville men's and women's track and field opened the 2026 half of their indoor season at the Marshall Alumni Classic hosted by Marshall University Saturday.
On the men's side, Zeke Hagley and Alex Rogers both made finals in the shot put. Hagley threw a 14.94m and finished sixth and Rogers took ninth after a 14.32m toss. Matthew Edwards and Adam Wooten made their track and field debuts and set new personal bests in the shot put with scores of 13.47m and 13.02m, respectively. Wyatt Fielder and Bradley Henson also set new personal bests for the event.
Hagley and Rogers also made finals in the weight throw, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively. Rogers' 15.56m mark in the weight throw was a new personal record. Aaron Coffey threw a 14.24m, a new season best. Edwards, Wooton, Fielder, and Henson also set new personal records in the weight throw.
Alex Harris highlighted the men's team's jumping events, placing eighth in the triple jump with a 12.63m leap. Harris also competed in the long jump, recording a 6.02m.
In the track events, Joshua Martinez set a new school record in the mile run with a 4:40.81. Martinez also set a new school record with a time of 9:32.97 in the 3000m. Carter Hamilton set a pair of new personal bests in the one mile run and in the 1000m. Lucas Gibsom ran a 1:48.91 in the 600m and a 2:25.63 in the 800m, both personal records. Trenton Terry set new personal records in the 400m and 200m. Gunter Young also set a new personal record in the 400m.
On the women's side, Gisele Young ran her best indoor 400m time after running a 1:11.82. Alison Cantrell set a personal best in the 600m after running a 2:17.69. Hailey Little also set a personal best in the 600m with a time of 2:21.87.
Kylie Hall, Faith Newsom, Jaida Garrett, and Sierra Allen ran in the 60m. Hall, Newson, Garrett, and Allen also competed in the 200m, with Garrett hihglighting the event with a new season best 29.07 in the event.
Next up for the track and field Bears is a trip to Marietta, Ohio, for the Ice Breaker meet hosted by Marietta College.
