NEW CONCORD, Ohio – University of Pikeville men's and women's track and field competed in the Muskie Meet #1 hosted by Muskingum University Saturday.
On the men's side, Zeke Hagley continued to dominate in the weight throw event. Hagley won the weight throw after hurling a 16.92m mark. Hagley also took second in the shot put after throwing a season-best 15.09m.
Alex Rogers also had a productive day in the weight throw and shot put, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Rogers' mark in the weight throw, which was a 15.62m mark, was a new personal record.
Elsewhere in the weight throw, Aaron Coffey finished seventh and Bradley Henson set a new personal best. DeVonte Gordon made his UPike debut and recorded a 9.50m toss in the shot put.
In the jumps, Alex Harris and Zack Mason both made finals in the triple jump wth leaps of 12.66m and 12.24m, respectively. Harris also competed in the long jump, and Mason competed in the high jump.
In the track events, Harris ran a 7.47 in the 60m, a new personal best. Rylen Rash made his collegiate debut and ran 18:30.38 in the 5k.
Joshua Martinez continues to rewrite the record books in the distance, setting a new school record in the 1000m run, finishing seventh after recording a time of 2:40.57. Martinez also recorded a time of 4:41.39 in the one-mile run.
On the women's side, newcomer Abigail McPherson recorded a mark of 1.30m in the high jump. Carlie Osborne and Faith Newsom ran in the 60m and 200m dash events. Osborne sets new personal bests in both events, recording a 8.32 in the 60m and a 28.15 in the 200m. Gisele Young ran a 1:13.20 in the 400m dash.
The track and field Bears will be back in action next Saturday in Cincinnati, Ohio, for the MoJoe Invite hosted by Mount St. Joseph University.
