BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville women's basketball team picked up a win in its final road game of the regular season on Wednesday night, knocking off Union Commonwealth University 71-47.

The Bears have quietly won five of their last six games and seven games in nine outings, all in league play. They're now 15-12 on the season, 14-5 in the conference.

Union now stands 7-18 overall, 6-12 in the AAC.

UPike took a 19-14 lead after one period and pushed it to 40-23 at the half. It grew to as many as 27, 69-42, late in the game.

UPike put five players in double figures in the win, led by senior
Jaidy Mejia-Andrade. Days after being named AAC Defensive Player of the Week, she flexed her muscles on both ends of the floor.

She finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. The league leader in blocked shots, she recorded three more on Wednesday.

Two Bears had double-doubles in the win. Freshman Sadie Adkins finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while junior
Rachel Bush had 12 points and 11 boards. Bush added three blocks, three steals and three assists.

Senior
Allie Stone hit 4 for 5 from the arc to finish with 12 points two days after moving to No. 4 on the school's all-time scoring list. She will go into her Senior Day game with 1,822 points in her career.

Freshman
Anika Stehbens came off the bench with 10 points, a team-best four assists, four rebounds and two steals.

Union Commonwealth had one player reach double figures in the game. Freshman Kylie Now had 26 points and also paced her team with seven rebounds.

UPike will wrap up the regular season with its eighth game in 18 days on Saturday when it hosts Montreat (N.C.) College. Game time is 2 p.m. at the Appalachian Wireless Arena, with the senior ceremony to immediately precede it.
