COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of Pikeville women's basketball team took a one-point halftime lead and turned it into a 68-45 win over Columbia International University on Monday afternoon.

The win came in a makeup game from a postponement in late January and raised UPike's record to 12-11 on the season, 11-4 in the AAC.

UPike trailed by as many as seven points, 24-17, with 3:32 left in the first half before scoring the final eight points of the period to take a 25-24 lead.

They stretched the advantage to 42-38 by the end of the third period and then outscored the Rams 26-8 in the final 10 minutes to pull away for the win.

Sophomore guard
Jaaliyah Warren led three players in double digits with 21 points. She hit five three-point baskets in the game.

Freshman
Sophie Adkins, who started the game about 90 minutes after being named the league's offensive player of the week, followed with 19 points and 12 rebounds. It was the second straight double-double for Adkins and the second consecutive game in which she had a career high on the glass. She added two steals.

Junior
Rachel Bush had 12 points and eight rebounds, going 8 for 8 at the free throw line. Bush had a dozen points despite shooting only three shots from the field. She also had two steals and two blocked shots.

Senior
Jaidy Mejia-Andrade had seven points in the win but matched Adkins with a dozen rebounds while adding six blocked shots and four assists. It was the second consecutive game with six blocked shots for the Colombia native.

The Rams were led by sophomore Jerchel Geathers-Washington, who had 17 points and eight rebounds to pace her team in both categories. Freshman Katie Johnson had 10 points, six rebounds and five assists.

UPike will remain on the road for the next two games, beginning on Wednesday night when it travels to Bluefield (Va.) University. The opening tip is slated for 5:30 p.m.
