Men's Tennis

Men's tennis falls to TWU

The University of Pikeville men's tennis team hosted Tennessee Wesleyan University on Friday, falling by a score of 7-0.
 
The match started with doubles play and the Bulldogs took all three to go up 1-0.
 
Sophomores Ahmed Hassairi and Haithem Rabbouche lost to Lucas Perez and Lucas Grana 2-6. Freshman Rafael Gonzalez and senior Alfonso Robinson were beaten 1-6 by Agustin Gaia and Mario Monclus, and junior Anton Hoffman and senior Matthew Rodgers were beaten by David Leon and Maceo Simpson 5-7.
 
In singles play, Rabbouche lost to Grana 1-6, 0-6, while Robinson fell to Nicolas Cotes 2-6, 2-6.
 
Hassairi was defeated by Santiago Russo 2-6, 2-6. Hoffman fell to Asier Pascual 2-6, 6-2 (3-10).
 
Rodgers lost to Leon 4-6, 2-6, and Gonzalez was defeated by Chanon Phunsawat 4-6, 4-6.
 
UPike will be back in action on Friday at 11 a.m. when it hosts Columbia (S.C.) College at Bob Amos Park. It will be Senior Day for the Bears.
