Women's tennis hosts Columbia

 
 
The University of Pikeville women's tennis team hosted Columbia (S.C.) College on Monday evening, losing 6-1 at Bob Amos Park.
 
The Bears got a win in No. 1 doubles, as Geraldine Salinas and Elizabeth Davis knocked off the combination of Aniya Sims and Ana Ribeiro 6-1. In the other doubles match, Teegan Carpenter and Grace Clark fell to Rachel Thompson and Natalia Diaz 6-1.
 
In No. 1 singles, Salinas beat Diaz 6-0, 6-1.
 
The rest of the points, however, went to the Koalas.
 
Ribeiro beat Carpenter 6-3, 6-2, Sims won over Davis 6-0, 6-0, and Thompson beat Clark 6-1, 6-1.
 
UPike will be back in action on Thursday, traveling to play Milligan (Tenn.) University at 2 p.m.
