A select group from the University of Pikeville track and field team went to UNC-Asheville to test out the national championship site.

On Friday the meet started off with the high jump. First year
Abigail McPherson cleared a height of 1.43m to finish sixth. On the men's side Zachary Mason set a new school record clearing 1.93m to finish fourth.Â

Both McPherson and
Lauren Mann competed in the women's long jump. Both set new personal bests, as McPherson jumped 4.42m and Mann jumped 4.14m. Mason also entered the long jump, jumping 6.06m.

The last field event group to contest on Friday would be the men's hammer.
Zeke Hagley won with a mark of 54.06m.
Alex Rogers finished fourth with a mark of 46.59m.
Matthew Edwards posted a mark of 37.83m and
Adam Wooton threw 32.45m.

On the track,
Carlie Osborne would set a new school record in the 200m of 26.15. On the Men's side in the 200m Jay' Qwan Walker had a personal record with a time of 23.03.

Joshua Martinez set a new school record in the 1500m with a time of 4:13.65. A pair of 5000m men finished day one for the Bears.
Kelvin Kurgat was eighth setting a new school record at 15:31.57.
Rylen Rash posted a time of 17:36.710

Saturday started off with the men's discus. Hagley finished second in the event by throwing 48.02m. Edwards finished seventh with a new personal record of 41.79m. Rogers threw 40.80m. Edwards and Rogers also contested the shot-put, where Edwards would finish seventh with a mark of 13.77m and Rogers threw 13.02m.

McPherson set a new personal record in the triple jump at 8.95m. Mason jumped 12.80m in the men's triple jump.Â

On the track, Walker finished fifth in the 400mh running 57.60. Walker also raced in the 400m setting a personal record of 50.77 to finish ninth.Â

Osborne set a new school record in the 400m with a time of 59.58.Â

Joshua Martinez finished fourth in the 800m with a new school record of 1:55.87
