MONTREAT, N.C. -- The University of Pikeville men's and women's track and field program competed last weekend at Montreat College in the AAC Outdoor Championship. The three-day event started on Thursday.Â

Zeke Hagley was named the AAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year based off his performance over the championship.Â

Day one started with the men's hammer. This was a completive field.
Zeke Hagley came out as the hammer throw champion with a mark of 54.78m. That set a new championship record in the men's hammer and also punch Hagley ticket to the NAIA Outdoor National Championship.

Also in the event was
Alex Rogers who finished sixth in the event and set a new PR with a mark of 51.32m, Mattew Edwards had a toss of 44.00m to finish 12
th.

Day 2 started off with the 10k.
Rylen Rash finished eighth in the event running a new PR of 36:05.61 just missing the school record by one second.Â

The men's shot put led off the field events. Hagley would again lead the throws group, placing third with a throw of 15.39m making it his second podium finish. Marking the finals with Hagaly was Rogers who placed fifth with a throw of 14.21m, and Edwards would finish seventh throwing 13.73m.

Also throwing in the shot-put event was
Bradley Henson throwing a PR of 12.54m.
Adam Wooton threw 12.49m, Also throwing a PR was Devonte Gordon of 11.75m and Wyatt Field had a toss of 9.61m.Â

The long jump group was next for the Bears. Zachary Mason would finish eighth with a mark of 6.18m. For the women,
Faith Newsom set a PR of 4.69m to finish 10
th. In the women's high jump
Abigail McPherson finished eighth with a jump of 1.43m.

Back on the track JayQwan Walker ran a time of 1:00.92 in the 400m hurdles. Walker also competed in the open, running 51.58. Also in the 400m was
Joshua Martinez who would run 50.65.

Carlie Osborne followed in the women's 100m dash. Osborne finished fifth running 12.29 setting a new PR and school record. Osborne came back in 400m placing third with another PR and school record of 58.13.

The championship wrapped with
Bruce Coleman racing in the 3k Steeplechase running 11:53.74 setting a PR and school record. Martinez ran 1:59.03 in the Men's 800m and Gunther Young also ran a time of 2:06.33 in the same event.Â

Osborne continued to set records, this time in the 200m, placing sixth in the event with a time of 25.78 setting a new school record and PR.Â
Â
Kelvin Kurgat ran the 5k posting a time of 15:44.65. The women's 4x400m team of Newsom, Garrett, Young, and Osborne set a new school record 4:21.44.

Finishing with the field events McPherson set a PR in the triple jump with a jump of 9.04m.Â

In the men's discus, Hagley finished third with a throw of 48.73m. Rogers would set a PR and finish fifth with a mark of 45.83m. Edward had a mark of 40.94m and Wooton finished with a mark of 36.84m.

A small group of athletes will be heading to Lexington for the Jim Green Invite, hosted by the University of Kentucky on May 1.
