JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The University of Pikeville visited NCAA Div. II Carson-Newman University for its Senior Day celebration on Saturday.

The UPike men knocked off the Eagles 6-1, while the women lost to Carson-Newman 7-0.

The Bears remain on the road for their next match, visiting Bluefield State (W.Va.) University on Thursday. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.

MEN: Bears 6, Eagles 1: The Bears spoiled senior day for the men of Carson-Newman with a 6-1 win.

UPike picked up the doubles point by winning two of the three matches.

At No. 1,
Ahmed Hassairi and Haithen Rabbouche knocked off Darko Kolevski and Giancarlo Rosario 6-4, while the Eagles took No. 2 doubles when Keegan Nelson and Max Stollecker beat
Alfonso Robinson and
Rafael Gonzalez 6-4.

But the win at No. 3, where
Anton Hofmann and
Matthew Rodgers took down Aiden Standefer and Boris Jordanov 6-1, gave the Bears the doubles point.

When singles play began, Rabbouche mounted a tremendous rally to beat Stollecker, rallying from a 0-6 loss to win 6-4, 10-7 at No. 1. Carson-Newman's only point of the match came at No. 2, where Yassin Ali beat Robinson 6-2, 6-1.

From there, it was all Bears. Hassairi knocked off Rosario 6-3, 6-1; Hofmann handled Standefer 6-1, 6-0; Rodgers defeated Jordanov 6-1, 6-0, and; Gonzalez beat Nelson 6-0, 6-2.

WOMEN: Eagles 7, Bears 0: The Eagles picked up wins in all six matches contested.

It started in doubles, where Hala Awad and Sindija Manovska beat UPike's senior combination of
Natalia Geraldine Salinas 6-1, and Maria del Mar Sarda and Belen Blasco defeated junior
Teegan Carpenter and freshman
Grace Clark 6-1.

That gave Carson-Newman a 1-0 lead.

In singles' competition, Mar Sarda beat Carpenter 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, Andrea Aguiar knocked off Davis 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, and Sophia Caminiti defeated Clark 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4.

With the match decided, No. 1 singles played only one set, where Awad bet Salinas 6-4.
