Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Rick Bentley

Men's soccer stays undefeated with 5-2 win over Carolina.

Two Bears scored their first goals at the school and another had his second multi-goal game of the season as the University of Pikeville knocked off Carolina (N.C.) University 5-2 on Friday night at Bob Amos Park.
 
UPike (2-0-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of play. It started in the seventh minute when senior Mahmoud Shech-Ichya scored his first goal as a Bear. The assist was credited to junior Alex Pritchard.
 
Three minutes later, senior Dylan Roberts found the back of the net off a pass from Shech-Ichya. It was his fifth goal of the season.
 
In the 25th minute, senior Kyryl Dmytryk cut the Bears' lead to 2-1 with his first goal of the season. The assist went to junior Will McCamley.
 
That was the lead at the half.
 
Roberts had his second multiple-goal game in three outings after he dribbled downfield and found himself open in the 56th minute. That goal, his sixth of the season, gave the Bears some breathing room with a 3-1 lead.
 
The lead grew to 4-1 in the 70th minute when senior midfielder Amogelang Mofokeng scored his first goal as a Bear.
 
The final UPike goal of the night was the first of the season for senior Yali Cohen. It came in the 75th minute.
 
With only three seconds remaining, senior Carlos Ramirez scored for the Bruins, setting the final score.
 
The Bears had 11 shots on goal, while Carolina finished with seven.
 
UPike keeper sophomore Alejandro Iglesias had five saves in net.
 
UPike will be back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Beckley, W.Va., to play WVU Tech. Game time is 7 p.m.
 
Carolina is now 3-1 on the season.
