Box Score PIKEVILLE, Ky. – For the fifth time in the five weeks of football season, and University of Pikeville Bear has been honored by the Mid-South Conference.
 
Sophomore Jade Haddix has been named Defensive Player of the Week in a vote of the league's sports information directors. It is the second straight week a Bear has taken the honor following Demitri Travis receiving the award last Monday.
 
In addition, quarterback Trevor Hoskins has been named Offensive Player of the Week twice and return specialist Marquis Terrell was the Special Teams Player of the Week two weeks ago.
 
Haddix is the latest honoree after his stellar performance in UPike's 37-30 win at No. 19 Campbellsville on Saturday.
 
A 6-0, 210-pound strong safety from Jackson, Haddix had 10 tackles on Saturday, with six being solos. More importantly, however, were two interceptions and a fumble recovery, accounting for three of the nine Tiger turnovers the Bears forced in the win. His second interception resulted in a 57-yard return, which is the fifth longest in school history.
 
The interceptions were the first of his career for Haddix, who has started every game in his collegiate career. He now has 23 tackles, which is fourth on the team, and two fumble recoveries to go with his interceptions.
 
The Bears now have 13 interceptions at the midpoint of the season, with 10 coming in the last two games. On Saturday, Pikeville had five picks to go with four fumble recoveries en route to the win.
 
Haddix is the third Bear with multiple interceptions this year, following Travis' four and three by sophomore Larry West. They are three of only 19 players in the Mid-South Conference with more than one interception to this point in the season.
 
Thanks to their impressive two weeks, the Bears are now plus-eight in the turnover column (24 forced, 16 surrendered).
